A message to my outgoing class
Well what a year we’ve had together: physically in the same classroom, digitally and socially distanced!
You must know how proud I am of you all; I hope this was reflected in each of your reports we have sent. You have been through a strange and unpredictable time and have learnt much more than the activities I have uploaded on the website. You have become more resilient, more adaptable, and you are witnessing a world full of problem solvers right now. You are one of these problem solvers. You are part of a major historical event. There are no failures coming out of this; we have all learnt a lot about ourselves.
I wish you all the best for September, whether you have the excitement of moving to Mrs Clark’s class or the [insert a kind abstract noun here] of staying in this class.
The summer reading challenge has already begun and the theme this year is reading funny books. Have a look at the link and get yourself involved with the reading challenge over the summer https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/

Stay safe – Miss Smailes

A message to my incoming class
Hello to the new year 4/5! Some of you will have been in my class already, but most of you are joining from Mrs Duncan’s class. We have had meetings together to talk about how wonderful you are and how Miss Swan and I can best support you over the next year.
I am excited for us to get together for the first time in September and navigate the next year through some no doubt variable times. To give you a glimpse of what is to come, you can scroll down and have a look at our class timetable, curriculum yearly overview and first homework grid. Please be aware that at the time of writing this (27th July 2020), various parts of the curriculum and homework need to be finalised and will be subject to change.
Whatever September brings, I hope to move forward from the idea of ‘normality’ and support you in every way to journey through this portion of life. Expect safety to be the absolute priority, closely followed by your wellbeing and quality of learning.

E-safety

This is such an important topic now you are all at home for the school holidays. Please keep looking at these activities:
Being kind online
Gaming

White Rose Maths

We are now looking forward to September and when you come back you will be doing place value as the first maths topic. You could revise your KS2 knowledge of this topic by revising the Y3-Y5 work. It would also be good to do some of this over the holiday.
