Music in Schools

July 2019

Some of the children have been learning to play the ukelele. At the assembly they played Shotgun by George Ezra.

The choir once again sang for the residents at Plane Tree Nursing Home. They loved hearing all the carols we sang to them. One gentleman said how much it reminded him of ‘old’ times. Well done choir you were brilliant.

The Choir performed with the Go Vintage Choir.  We had a wonderful afternoon of Christmas songs.  Thanks you to Go Vintage.

The children who have been learning the Ukulele, along with the choir, sang and played at the Bridgewater Hall with the Halle.

It was a great event and all the children did so well.

Go Vintage who are the Reddish Community Choir performed with the school choir. They sang “Help” together and “A Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

Both choirs performed their own favourite songs and it was a great afternoon. Well done to both choirs. We would like to thank Go Vintage.

Travelling by Tuba gave us a musical tour of Britain through the ages. They were amazing and the children really enjoyed getting involved

KS2 took part in a singing challenge. They were part of a large group of schools, across the Greater Manchester area, who joined together in singing a song called ‘Manchester.’ The song was streamed on Bolton radio for all to sing along.

The year 1 children have been creating their own music using known beats. They used tuned and untuned instruments.

The choir went to Morrisons to sing songs to raise money for school. They sounded wonderful and did us all proud.

In music, the children who have been learning the recorders, also had a try at making music with the ‘boomwackers.’

The choir went to ‘Plane Tree Nursing Home’ to sing Christmas Carols for the elderly residents.

The choir have been learning “Danny Boy” with Mrs Henderson and Mrs Smith. They sang the song A Capella  and it was really impressive as it showed off the beautiful voices of our choir. Well done!

The children performed the music that they have been learning on their recorders and ukuleles. to the whole school. We are really proud of the progress the children have made and they will be continuing their learning next year.

The children in Year 3 and Year 5 went to the Bridgewater Hall to perform with the Halle. We played our recorders and sang with the Halle.

The children in Year 3 and Year 5 are progressing well in their recorder lessons. They will be practising for their visit to the Bridgewater Hall.

The choir sang for the elderly residents at Plane Tree Court Nursing Home. It was lovely seeing the joy on their faces as we sang Christmas carols.

The year 6 children did a performance to their parents and the rest of the school, demonstrating what they had learnt in their music sessions.
