All children in school have taken part in competitions for Boccia in their PE lessons. Something new for a lot of the children.
This half term, until Easter, the children at school will all now be dancing in PE, with KS2 children playing cricket, and KS1 and Reception children looking more at their coordination skills.
Well done to all the pupils who took part in the KS1 boccia and kurling competition. All did very well and managed to get themselves a medal and certificate! Some are pictured below.
Congratulations to the four Young Sports Ambassadors for working hard and achieving their bronze award and moving onto their silver award. They set up and managed sessions in the morning for classes around school.

Well done to the children who took part in the football tournament today, great football on show and great attitudes with it.
A big thank you to PSC who came in and provided some of the Year 1’s and Year 5/6’s with Yoga to start their mornings. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot from the sessions.
Congratulations to the two children who took part in the Boccia tournament this week and have progressed into the finals in February!
In November the children are taking part in their second personal active challenge. This month they will each use their early morning learning time once per week to take part in an active challenge session, with 5 different challange such as; rowing, cycling, skipping, throwing and hurdling. They will be keeping their scores and trying to improve them over the weeks.
Congratulations to the four children from years 5 & 6 who have taken part in a Young Ambassadors Conference and will start to lead and support other children through sport. They will be working towards their bronze award in the coming months.
During October the children have been set an active person challenge during school time. This half term saw each child provided with a pedometer to count their steps throughout the day.
During school PE lessons this year pupils will have age appropriate focuses for each key stage through school.
Reception will look to begin to gain a range of movements, improve coordination, ball skills, team games, gymnastics and create simple dance patterns.
KS1 will develop an understanding of their; movements, coordination, team games, athletics, gymnastics and dance.
KS2 will look to develop their skills through football, rugby, netball, tennis, cricket, athletics, gymnastics and dance.
The Year 5/6 footballers have been entered into a local schools league and will look to put their practice into games and show their progression and ability.

Our Karate Club has been really successful and the children have enjoyed learning a martial art.
Our Football Team have been going from strength to strength and really did us proud at a recent tournament at Manchester City FC. They won 3 of 5 games (in the snow) including TWO goals from their own half by two different players! Well done lads.
Our Year 3/4 Sportshall athletics team took part in a competition at Stockport Academy. They worked really well together and managed to place joint 4th overall. We gave a spirit of the games award to Logan for his determination to have a go at everything and for always having a huge smile on his face. We gave Alexis the award for passion for the sport as she thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.
We have been awarded the Silver level School Games Mark for our commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive school sport in 2016/17.
Our year 5 and 6 Sportshall athletics team took part in competition at Stockport Academy. We had some great sprinters on our team and managed to position in third place. A fantastic team effort. We awarded the spirit of the games award to Keira for keeping a smile on her face throughout the event, this showed great passion for the sports.
Members of our year 3 and 4 Sportshall athletics club took part in a competition against 9 other schools at Stockport Academy. They completed several track events including relay races and obstacle courses and a variety of field events; speed bounce, standing high jump, standing long jump, five strides, chest push and javelin. Charlie was given a spirit of the games award for his teamwork skills, he encouraged everyone throughout their events and said well done afterwards. A huge well done to you Charlie!
Our Young Ambassadors for sport have attended a training session at Aquinas College. They completed physical challenges and found out about the world athletics championships which is taking place in London in 2017. Their next challenge is to put their new skills into practise back at school with our Ks 1 children.
