Home Learning from January 2021

January 2021

School is closed to all pupils except those who are vulnerable or whose parents are critical workers. If you are a critical worker but it is possible for you to keep your child safely at home please do so. More than 4 times the number of children who were regularly in school during the first lockdown are attending school now and we are almost at 1/4 of the full school total. It is vital that if virus suppression efforts are going to be effective, we keep numbers to the absolute minimum. Please click this link for more information on our Home learning information for parents.

Home Learning is being sent to all children via SeeSaw. Everyone has signed up to SeeSaw and all children have been shown how to use the app in school. This has been our default mode of communication and sharing of homework & home learning since September and is working very well. If you are having any difficulties with using the app, internet connectivity or having an available device then get in touch. We are happy to do quick in-person tutorials with masks and social distancing. We can provide homes with routers that make your mobile phone a wifi zone for free. Also, I have just received confirmation that we will be receiving 19 tablets from the government this week (11th Jan). If you have no device (tablet, laptop or PC) in your house and you need one of these devices, please get in touch with school to request one.

We understand that some children will take to the new home-learning routine easier than others. If you or your child are finding the adjustment difficult please get in touch. There are adjustments that can be made, reassuring conversations that can be had with children and a range of things we can do to make the experience easier. The most important thing that you can do is get your child reading for pleasure and read to them. The second most important thing you can do is to ask for help when you need it. That’s what we’re here for.

Free School Meals

For the week of 11th January we are making up food boxes in school for al children in receipt of benefit-related free school meals, available for collection from Tuesday afternoon. We hope the government voucher scheme will be in place shortly whereupon we will switch to this arrangement which will allow families to choose their own items. If you are experiencing financial difficulties at this time, please get in touch. There are a range of ways in which we can help including Morrison’s vouchers from our hardship fund, foodbank vouchers and other support.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please email or phone school ( 0161 480 6295). For advice or guidance from the local authority you can contact The Parent Carer Forum (PACTS) are also available to support individual families, email

Thank you so much for doing all that you are doing to support efforts to drive the virus down locally and to support your children with home learning.

Yours faithfully,
