Values and Ethos

Welcome to Lark Hill Primary School: A community of Responsibility and Respect, Creativity and Challenge.

A happy place to learn.

We believe that our school should help develop young people with the attitudes, skills and knowledge to lead happy, productive lives and contribute to society.

To achieve this we continually review our curriculum to ensure that it:

Is meaningful and relevant to our children

Inspires, excites and evokes wonder

Makes children curious and encourages questioning

Values struggle and perseverance and promotes high expectations for all

Teaches self-regulation and impulse-control.

Is full of opportunities for pupils to be creative and think creatively.

At Lark Hill Primary School we aim to instil a sense of belonging to the wider community, and to the country in which we live. In all that we do we value highly democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and belief. Keeping our children safe and preparing our children for life in modern Britain is very important to us. A large part of this values-based vision is a commitment to restorative approaches. We are dedicated to guiding all children to take responsibility for their actions, restoring broken relationships and repairing harm in a supportive environment. We believe that we have a duty to teach behaviour conducive to well-being and emotional literacy. Children at Lark Hill develop empathy, kindness, consideration, mental toughness and attitudinal skills alongside their academic learning.

We hope that our website develops into a working site which helps parents, children and teachers build on home school partnerships.

I am always pleased to show prospective parents around during the school day so that you can see the wide and varied learning opportunities that we offer first hand. If you are considering applying for a school place at Lark Hill please contact the school office if you would like an appointment on (0161) 480 6295 and ask for Mrs Clowes.

I hope that you enjoy browsing our website but remember to bookmark it and come back soon as it is regularly updated.

Best wishes,

Mr S Kelly
